I was lucky enough to be a +1 at a screening last night in NYC. This movie was lifeblood for me when it came out - I ended up with a full blown fashion brand doing runway shows less than a decade later and I realized last night this film likely had an outsized role in that path.
The story, the delight, the PEOPLE. I can say from the other side of that runway, market, collection life that it's all real and true and eventually I would become very close friends with someone who's very close Doug Keeve - the director (thus the invite last night). Every min of the film is MAGICAL - it wouldn't and couldn't be made today and has just been restored and given a theatrical release. GO GO GO. In NYC the link is below.
There was a FANTASTIC funny panel at the screening last night with @Rec League 's own @Good Thing Going by Lena Dunham as the moderator - turns out she lived down the street from Issac's studio and was connected through her parents, I was visiting my dad a few blocks away at the same time and as they discussed the love letter to what Soho was in the 80's and 90's is no joke in this movie which makes it worth it even if you're not a fashion fan. Search for online clips of the panel to - it's delightful.

“Shot by my fav cinematographer Ellen Kuras! She captures the energy of creative personalities so well. Even if you don’t care about fashion, this is such a fun watch.”
