What are your favorite lake/beach destinations within about 5-6 hrs of NYC/Philly? Looking to rent a house for a large summer family gathering. Ideally somewhere near a good town to eat and explore, but also near some nature (we like to hike, swim, paddleboard etc.). In the past we've done LBI and Bethany Beach but looking to branch out and explore somewhere new!

I’ve gone a couple of times with my Philly family after major family events in the city, renting houses in different areas of the cape. It’s really a lovely place - nature preserves, beaches, cute areas with coffee shops and shopping. Good for a group with a range of activity preferences.
