My first Ann Patchett read… certainly will not be my last. This is my favorite book of 2026 so far. So enchanting and such a simple premise but layered way of letting it unravel. Love, love, love!

“Oof that was a good book. It was so good I couldn’t help but barrel through it, though it made my heart wobble. The woman can really write.”

“Not sure why I, a woman who recently lost her stepdad, thought this book about a woman reconnecting with her stepdad as an adult would be a good casual read. It was not that. It was rich in grief and tenderness. It was gorgeous.”

“Obama rec. also the way Ann patchett soflty carries you along while she unfolds the lives of her characters sticks with you. Every book is gently unraveled, but you are never bored. Currently binging everything she has written.”
