lists/guides in maps apps

What's everyones favorite way for collecting travel recommendations? Right now I use a google doc for each trip where I list out restaurants I'm interested in, attractions, stores I want to visit, etc. and then I try to go back at the end of the trip and update with my thoughts / what I actually did. It's annoying though because there's no map element -- I have to manually save each destination in google maps. Has anyone tried Wanderlog? Is there a website or app worth checking out?
