Forcing yourself to open the mail when you’re expecting bad news from insurance or huge medical bills is really stressful. Offer to physically be there to deal with the physical reminder of illness, and bonus points if you can help them fight insurance or get a bill reduced.

“My late father-in-law made first-day covers for each new stamp issued by the USPS. One of his legacies is a trove of unused vintage stamps, and now a small joy for me is seeing which ones my mother-in-law uses whenever she sends us mail. Stamps never go bad and as long as you have the total value of the postage correct (currently $.82 for a 1 oz letter), you can layer an envelope with a small gall”

“It brings me a lot of joy to buy the fun, silly, or cute stamps. When I’m ready to send a card or note, even the front of the envelope has personality!”

Shellie Gossling
“What a great idea!!!”
