Crullers from Goldie's Donuts: Cleveland

Airy and eggy, just sweet enough, these old-time treats are only available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (and they tend to sell out). Goldie's is my no. 2 donut shop in NE Ohio, but no. 1 in crullers.

Ok now I need to know what your #1 is. The only place I like as much as Goldie’s is biagios.

Biagio's is formidable, but my no. 1 forever is Madsen Donuts at Geneva on the Lake. They only make a handful of varieties (all great), the shop is teeny, but the plain glazed is transcendent.

Re: Biagio’s, their (now YEARS AND YEARS OLD) decision to open up on Sundays remains a subject of spirited discussion among my grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Pro: You can now get donuts on Sundays. Con: “Would Mr. Biagio have wanted it that way?”
