My favorite Lake Erie beach; get as close to the northern wild edge as you can, past the end of the Buckeye trail, near the restored dunes and looking toward the lighthouse. In the banks of pebbles there, you can find (and leave) fragments of ancient fossil coral and tiny perfect periwinkle shells. The water is always the color of an eye—grey or green or blue or brown.

I love following (and re-recing) your posts. I just went up to visit my dad in Mentor. My best friend and I meet every morning at the beach at sunrise to clean the shoreline as a healing ritual.
Aw, thank you Colette-and thank you for cleaning the beach <3 I hope it was a good visit.
I grew up in North Willoughby and this was THE summer spot! A great beach! :D
