“Romeo and Juliet” Dire Straits

This has been in heavy rotation for me since high school. A nearly perfect song. Great guitar, beautiful lyrics, heavy longing. Allegedly inspired by Holly Vincent saying she used to “have a scene” with Mark Knopfler but “he couldn’t handle it” and he was so sad about that that he rewrote their story with him as Romeo. We love a delusional sadboi with serious guitar chops.
