Devils ivy

yeah they seem to intuitively know which plants they can't fuck with. idk how but just another reason why they're such smart & perfect creatures <3

my dad was a horticulturist and is responsible for getting me interested in gardening but i am by no means a plant expert! dad got me into succulents first because they were abundant in public spaces (easy to take a few free cuttings) & very low maintenance & suitable for full sun. devil's ivy suits me now because i don't get direct sun in my current apartment/balcony so it's more suitable for plants that are happy indoors / with less sunlight. something i learned about myself (ADHD brain) is that if a plant is out of sight, it's out of mind. if i can see its leaves drooping, it's a visual cue that it needs to be watered. idk if that's helpful but it was helpful for me to learn that! anyway sorry long ramble but i would agree that succulents are perhaps the best starting option as they kind of thrive on neglect hehe.

I am happy to update: I’ve had a plant for almosttt two months now and it’s looking good. I did a bunch of research but kept your recommendations in mind— I needed something low maintenance, was okay with low light, and would be in my line of sight for at least some part of the day so I’d remember it. I still have to have a reoccurring reminder on my phone to water it, but I’m keeping it alive!
