This is some of the most beautiful film and photography taken amongst the most dangerous places on earth by two beautiful people.
I cried more than I should've and my wife asked me why.Part of it was the quarter half gummy I took, but the reality is I would've cried regardless.
Analog film requires you to be selective on your shot. You have to account for lighting and line up your subject. That selective-ness to me means purposeful-ness. Having the ability to take photos on our phones willy-nilly has eroded the romantic component of photography.
When I take a photo of my wife with my FT-QL or my Widelux its not because I should take a photo to show others. Its because I like the way she looks. She looks immaculate while scarfing down a bagel with a respectable amount of creamcheese. I purposefully choice to take that photo mid-bite, I had to wait a week before the lab completed the development and only then does my photo reveal to me the image I saw. An iphone can't do that.
Alright, the real answer it I overly romanticize analog photography but its kinda my thing.
Whether it was him filming his wife walking across what had to have been a different planet or her taking photographs of her husband admiring a locale each of them made a cognizant choice to make that their shot.
