😬 No that's a good and fair point. Art can be such an intimate part of our identity that it is sometimes very hard to reconcile the whole "separate art from the artist." On the one hand terrible people can create good art and that doesn't make it stop being good art, but at the same time we should control, to the best of our ability, our own cognitive dissonance and not actively support people who still benefit monetarily.

This is one of my favorite conversations. What I finally decided was that there is so much good art in the world that I can appreciate what past me appreciated but not give more money or support after. I have one while shelf of albums that I have beloved songs on and no longer listen to. but I am also always open to people changing! It just doesn’t seem to happen once people make millions…

I completely agree! I've also started doing something very similar and it's part of my philosophy to ditch streaming services and start restoring old tech like my iPod back to working order and OWNING what I've already paid for. I know the per-cent profit of a single stream is completely negligible from a single person boycotting but my thought process is similar: I, too, have a shelf of CD's that I've been collecting since I was a boy. One example is Creed's album, Weathered which I listened to religiously as a moping teenager. I think Scott Stapp is a gigantic piece of human garbage but unfortunately the music has become a part of my personal history. However wherever I can to stop giving these people more money than I already have, I will.

Yes! And I think we must be around the same age demographic and I, too, was a Creed fan. (Listen, it’s possible I also had a brief Nickelback phase). Again, another sound that felt totally unique at the time!

I think we secretly all had a Nickelback phase (myself included). We can't all deny liking it at one point if they were as popular as they were. Otherwise how did they get so popular?!
