This is my dream(!) and I got a skateboard but I can’t quite figure out the *learning* part. How did you do this??

I’m def still figuring this out. I bought a surf skate board because IG made it look cool, and I’ve been using online tutorials from Grl Swirl. It’s VERY slow going. Literally a whole week for me of learning to practice standing on the board without falling off. But what would be even cooler is if I had an IRL person to show me how to! Alas, the online tutorials have filled that gap.
