Washing your hair with basic shampoo sometimes

For people who need deep conditioning products: I heard someone say that washing your hair with an inexpensive shampoo that strips it of product can really help and it works. People with curlier hair types might already know that but my hair is wavy/Irish and when I wash it with Pantene every couple of weeks instead of always using my nicer products it (forgive me) shines
