The bars along Sunset are perfectly situated for a lil’ crawl. So I made this map and invited a bunch of friends to join me for my birthday. People came and went, we stopped at a taco stand along the way for sustenance. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and highly recommended. This could be expanded to include other spots, but tried to be reasonable in the amount of alcohol one could consume in a day.
Bars in order of visit:
The Douglas
Casual sports bar with decent food so you have a good base for the day ahead. Beer & wine only.
Short Stop
We had the place to ourselves. Full bar, dance floor, photo booth. Definitely gets busy later.
Little Joy
Big windows give a nice open-air feeling perfect for a warm LA day. Full bar.
Lowboy
Full bar + food from the window. Crowded but we managed to snag a couple booths inside.
Bar Flores
One of my favorite LA bars. Great cocktails, good vibes, nice patio.
Gold Room
As the sun set, people started leaving, but reinforcements arrived. The most divey of the bars, but honestly great with the most fun crowd.
El Prado
After a stop at the taco stands, we walked to El Prado. A great little wine bar that was a bit too crowded and we were all a bit tired and unsure if wine was the move after a day of cocktails. So ultimately we skipped it, but it still makes the list.
Spirit House
Cutey little bar inside Sticky Rice which was great cuz the final few survivors could end with cocktails and Thai food. The wings and pad Thai were just what I needed, alongside my final cocktail, of course.
Bar Crawl Challenge
To make it a little more fun, I created this game where people could earn points by doing various tasks. I think my favorite was when people yelled “hot girl summer” upon entering the bar. Winners got gift cards to my favorite local places.
