The rhythm of the words is so melodic. My son, who usually likes a bit more plot, loves it when I read him this one.
History
I read this with my toddler for the first time today based on a rec here. What a moving, layered book with so many details to pore over. In this video, the author describes how the collages are made from scraps of materials she found in the farmhouse, like wallpaper and old dresses. If only all well-loved old homes could have such beautiful tributes. https://youtu.be/W5OSHXIm3Lk
