Masterful teller of detailed facts with momentum and reflection. I also listened to this on 1.3 speed and was riveted. Had me reflecting on parenting, and much more. Caution, there are some descriptions of violence that are hard to hear/read.

i listened to this in one sitting on a long flight (1.3 speed) and it put me in the best state of suspended time and space, I was IN IT. The storytelling, the layers, the depth of his investigative journalism, excellent.

I’m currently listening to this audiobook, so I guess it’s the aural equivalent of a page turner. A complex true crime thriller, the author narrates this story of a 19 year old London boy who is found dead. It links so many different narratives; parenting a troubled child, Russian oligarchs, the London underworld, and colonialism.

“Not exactly a summer beach read but unputdownable.”

“About a 19 year old who conned two London con men into thinking he was the son of a Russian oligarch, who died under mysterious circumstances. Patrick’s books have a gravitational field that sucks you in. All of his books are impossible to tear away from. This one is no different.”

“If you love true crime and exposés on the underbelly of a city and its authorities, this is the book for you. PRK is an incredible writer (duh), laying the groundwork early in the book for reveals way down the line.”
