My go to present for kids between 7 and 12 : semi precious stones !
There's so much of different kinds of them, and kids can spend hours just looking at them, learn their names and where & how they come from - and it's like having a little treasure.
And it opens new doors of activities : visit a mineralogical museum, books on geology, stones hunting on the beach...
I was gifted some at 10, and still remember all my stones, so I love to share down these precious time to the next generation.
