Holland Andrews and yuniya edi kwon present raw and gorgeous “experimental opera that explores the forces that compel life’s emergence and the act of meaning-making during epochs of decay. The work is an opera of the elemental, pre-deities, and illusions of containment that uses interdisciplinary performance to tell a story of transitional states... The creation of this project is deeply engaged with questions of queer parenthood, trans pregnancy, and contemporary life as trans artists of color. Holland and yuniya navigate the complex socio-political terrain of queer-trans family building during a period of rising political disintegration by creating an improvised practice of “Language Disintegration.” This deconstructed language, both familiar and unknown, allows Holland and yuniya to reflect and embody the queer possibilities that emerge even within overwhelming cycles of deterioration.“ (Creative Capital)
