As a born-and-bred, dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker, I've found a depressing schism has formed in local pizza establishments. Either it's a high-concept spot that makes a good slice but presents it as far more than what it is, or it's an equally priced new-build pizza place that appears to use the same developers as a post-2020 smoke shop. It's nice to see a spot that reminds me of a childhood slice machine: unpretentious, but with a quality that has been lost in the last ten years. Not remarkable, but exactly what I want from a slice spot.
