My family is heading to Ireland for the last two weeks of August. So far on the list is spend time with our beautiful adoptive family, see my wife's families castle (Carrick Fergus in Carrick Fergus), the Cliffs of Moher, and pet a sheep. Any other must-dos?

Carran, Ireland Visit

This is a historical fort and sheep farm not terribly far from the Cliffs of Moher, and it’s incredible: you get to watch a sheepdog demonstration, then meet the sheep, hold baby lambs, pet the sheepdogs, and tour the fort ruins. Plus, the family who run it are so sweet. Top tier experience!

I am so delighted by this rec because I spent two summers excavating here (2010 and 2011)!! I absolutely adore the whole Davoren clan PLUS getting to excavate the ringfort was the adventure of a lifetime.

What!! This is so cool! (And not for nothing, is a very cool Rec League moment for me after joining mere hours ago.) I knew very little about the history of the area beforehand and the tour completely captivated me. You unearthed some of the history I saw! How incredible those summers must have been for you.

I love that you just joined--the serendipity is what I adore about this app. It was truly an otherworldly experience being there. The year that I started was the first year they started excavating the site, so just the walls of the cashel were visible and nothing else. Literally uncovering the history of the site day after day was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It's a truly magical place.
