Primetime

I think a lot of critics misunderstood this movie. For me, this brings American nihilism into focus in such a brutal and real way. I saw it less as a “Nightcrawler” remake (though it has those excellent elements) and more as a sequel to “Network” (which is a prescient masterpiece). How did early aughts reality TV culture shape the kind of violence and voyeurism we permit today? Remember how fucked up Joe Millionaire, Wife Swap, Biggest Loser, etc all were? you can start to trace back a lot of societal ills to this era and thus film does a bang up job crystallizing the worldview they ingrained on everyday Americans

Also Rob is on a fuckin rollllll.
