If you can make your way to Trapani, Sicily, this ceramics store is incredible. I bought a couple handmade miniature foods when I was visiting years ago and the father/son duo who ran it (if memory serves) told me that more would be ready in the afternoon, if I could come back.

I have adored Antonello da Messina’s Virgin Annunciate ever since taking Italian Renaissance art history senior year of college, and seeing it in real life was remarkable. The whole museum is astonishing, to be honest. Absolutely top of the list for me for Palermo.

one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed! we got a room with a sauna INSIDE it and spent the whole day paddling around the blue bay on the hotel’s pedalboat. heavenly!

I segreti del chiostro definitely a highlight of our trip as far as sweets go - the nuns handmake all the cannolis using an ancient recipe & i was obsessed with the “boob shaped pastry” which is actually called minni di virgini and has an origin story that’s quite sad from the death of St Agatha

you should definitely either take a tour of the teatro massimo or see if they have any shows there during your stay! it’s italy’s largest opera house & so stunning inside!
