The Playhouse Business Owner Community
The most helpful thing I did when starting my business was become part of communities of other business owners, often further along than me. I've gotten so many questions answered, specific software and systems recommendations, and so much encouragement along the way.
I love the people in The Playhouse and recommend if it looks up your alley. I'd also recommend Lex Roman's Legends if a big part of your strategy involves an email list/newsletter, and Old Girls Club if your business leans more tech/corporate facing.
Basically, the heart of my recommendation for starting a business is make some new friends with other people running their own businesses!
This world sure needs more useful and not evil businesses, so wishing you the best as you get up and running!!

I guess it depends who you are hoping to connect with. It has been worth it for me. It's a mix of people who work in corporate roles, various tech startups, and then some independent consultants. I'm in the OGC Slack every day learning things and connecting with people, and I go to a lot of events to meet people (OGC members host events in their areas of specialty). So, if that's your world/audience then it can be worth it, but probably not if that's not who you'd be looking to get to know.
@amaya lim, I also think it depends on where you live. I am die-hard OGC but a lot of that has to do with the fact that I live in a city where there are a lot of other members. These members often organize their own personal or work-related events and those are a great way to meet OGC people in the wild and build relationships organically. OGC is not just about work so it is also a helpful community if you don’t have a large group of female friends who work.
