Take a hike!

What helps you feel alive and connected? The more specific the better. (I sometimes like to think of the universe as having a pulse, a rhythm. When I'm aligned with it, things flow nicely, I feel alive, I feel connected. When I'm not in sync with it, life feels hard, disconnected, out of rhythm.)

Take a hike! Look at the bugs and the critters and the flora and the trees and take a huge deep breath and smell the air. Get your feet a little muddy and climb over tree trunks and rocks. And go with a friend or your kids and spend time telling stories or singing a song or playing a game while you walk. Remind yourself how strong you are and how lucky you are to be there.

“cannabis pills, protein powder, the nicest yogurt and eggs, softest clothes, offer to do something concrete and let them choose what to say yes to. It is much easier for a person when ill to accept help than to think of a task or ask for help. Company on good days. Support for the family. Research support groups for patient and family—lower the barrier to entry so they can join when they’re ready.”
