La Chimera (2023)

This movie is my current comfort watch. Josh O'Connor said in an interview that he lived off grid in a camper van while making the movie and the crew would have big pasta dinners together...the movie FEELS like the internet doesn't exist and that's why I love it.

There’s an interview during the Italian press tour for this film where O’Connor says he wanted to work with Alice Rohrwacher so much that he kept writing letters to her even though he didn’t have her address (!!!) each one just listing an approximation of where in Italy people said she lived. I find this impossibly charming and it was the reason I watched the movie originally because magnetism between artists is just too cool

The good vibes just ooze off the screen, I love it. Also, this is a big tangent, but you might like Belly of An Architect. It's also an Italy movie with a capital I, gorgeous sets and very melodramatic. None of the good vibes of La Chimera but it's ostentatious.

I think I may have seen it a looong time ago, but anything Tilda Swinton is worth a rewatch.
