Rione Prati, near the Tiber and Vatican

Highly recommend Prati (just in general, tbh) - it’s a great, very walkable neighborhood and just across the river from the MAXXI. Would be a pleasant walk to the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, too.

Palazzo Talia

I stopped in for a cocktail at the bar at Palazzo Talia when I was in Rome 2 summers ago and it was stunning! The staff were so nice and gave us a tour of the newly renovated hotel (designed by the director of Call Me By Your Name). It was in the heart of Rome near lots of great attractions, but felt like a refuge in a busy city.
