Probably the biggest rabbit hole I’ve gone down in the last five years and the single most life-changing thing I’ve ever discovered (and am still discovering about).
Before GNM, I was enslaved to the idea that the body was unpredictable. A symptom appeared and there had to be something to fix/eliminate/supplement/detox/optimise or biohack. Even the “holistic wellness” industry kept me trapped in the same paradigm: something is wrong with your body and you need to intervene.
GNM gave me an entirely different way of seeing it. The premise is that symptoms are not random mistakes or evidence of a body failing us, but perfect and meaningful BIO-LOGICAL responses to what we experience. Our psyche, brain and cellular organs are not separate. They are adapting together, constantly, in the interest of our survival.
Learning GNM is learning to recognise patterns. I don’t spiral when a symptom appears and I don’t immediately reach for something to make it go away. I get curious with every symptom. And I mean EVERY symptom. A sneeze. Hiccups. A fever or the flu. A migraine. Acne. Eczema... What happened before this? What felt shocking or conflicting? What was experienced in isolation? What did I just resolve? Within the framework, symptoms are understood as following a remarkably clear pattern: conflict-shock → conflict-active phase → resolution → healing phase/symptoms → return to homeostasis.
GNM has made me look more closely at my lived experiences, relationships, fears, beliefs, boundaries, the things I suppress, the things I tolerate and, perhaps most importantly, the places where there is a split between the life I’m participating in and what I actually feel, think, want or need. Where am I performing something that isn’t true? Where am I overriding myself? Where am I adapting to an external reality that doesn’t match my internal one?
More than anything, GNM gave me a profound trust in the intelligence of nature and my own biology. I cannot overstate how freeing that has been! (I will be sharing more GNM resources in the collection.)
