Next to Normal (2025)

A formative text! A musical I can’t talk about without my heart exploding! So, so important to me as a teenager but also resonant and true as a 31-year-old woman. If you’re totally unfamiliar it’s a completely sung-through rock musical about grief and mental illness. It won a Pulitzer for drama in 2009. It’s about literal and figurative ghosts so it’s practically a Halloween movie. There are very few pieces of media I love as much as Next to Normal.
