I learned about him in college through his comedy work with Stella, The State, and his own standup. Watching him become such a talented director has been so fulfilling as a long-time fan. He’s been mainstream successful for quite a long time now, but I feel like The Dropout (2022) showed the general public what he’s capable of. If you have a high tolerance for cringe, listen to the track “The Apartment” from his standup album Sandwiches & Cats (2007) in which he reads a poem he wrote in his high school literary journal.
