Тёмная ночь

«Dark is the Night» by Марк Берне́с is a song that I rediscovered yesterday.

Written in 1943 for the Soviet film Two Soldiers (Dva boytsa), the song talks about homesickness and longing for a partner while surviving at the front lines.

This song indeed has a very nostalgic feeling to me, and it’s a reminder that at war everything is not always about patriotism or heroism.
