Made in Japan. It's tiny, but mighty! This grater, measuring about 2" x 4", is the best thing I've found for grating garlic. The control I get from its size is pretty great. But what really makes this grater stand out is how smooth and low-effort each stroke feels. No wonder, each grater is made by an artisan using a specialized chisel (tagane) and an iron hammer to manually raise each tooth on a hard, pure copper plate - a technique dating back to the Edo Period. Ooya Seisakusho is a third-generation, family-operated workshop that has specialized in traditional, hand-chiseled pure copper graters since 1928.
