Interesting, quirky, and sometimes mysterious stories that all come together in a delightful way. I spent a weekend project listening to episode after episode.

Mr Loverman audiobook
•••
This is the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to. My best friend Sienna put me on. It’s funny, heartbreaking, riveting, so beautifully written and fun to listen to. And the narration is perfection. Everyone who I’ve told to listen is also obsessed.

Binti: The Complete Trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor
•••
I'm learning something about myself: apparently, I like listening to sci-fi audiobooks when moving. Anyways! Binti is another excellent book to listen to while moving, on an airplane, or in a car. Okorafor's writing is evocative and filled with cultural references that build throughout the series. It's a coming-of-age story, of being the first Himba woman in a new academic environment (in space!). Okorafor is very attuned to Binti's sensitive emotional and cultural navigation of the world. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's definitely worth listening to or even reading (my entry point for this work), if you have the capacity later on.

When I moved from LA to Texas, I had all 4 twilight soundtracks on repeat and it made me feel “at home” while uprooting my life. :)

Funny You Ask with Ike Barinholtz

If you’re looking for a new podcast, I’ve really been enjoying this. As a celebrity jeopardy champion, Ike decided to do a trivia format for his show and it’s a good one.

Heavyweight is my favorite podcast. I adore Jonathan Goldstein in all his hilarious, neurotic glory. I’m not sure I can really choose a favorite episode, but I REALLY love this one. If you love older folks this one is for you. Super sweet. You may need your tissues.

handsome podcast
•••
I listened to probably 30 episodes of The Handsome Podcast while moving from one house to another after my divorce, and it felt like a bunch of hilarious pals were shepherding me into my new life. Low-stakes lolz and good vibes. Love em.

Ologies with Alie Ward
•••
Ologies is a great listen all the time (and it's a go-to for road trips, chores around the house, etc). You can check the list of topics for anything that looks good and it'll almost certainly be super-interesting and generally delightful, but off the top of my head I remember the ones on turkeys, trees, nudibranchs, tardigrades, owls, and Venus being terrific. (Seriously though, they're all good.)

Dimension 20

A great starting point for the d&d curious and d&d averse alike. Anything your favorite writer could do Brennan Lee Mulligan could do but also make it funny and anticapitalist. The core cast are among the best comedians on the planet. There’s truly nothing like collaborative storytelling and an Ally Beardsley nat 20.

dead eyes podcast
•••
Really entertaining and heartwarming little series. Basically this guy heard tom hanks denied him a role in band of brothers because he said he had “dead eyes.” The whole podcast is about IF Tom Hanks actually said that and an exploration about the industry writ large. Might be nice to put on while you’re moving!! Xo
