Where’s the good chai blends? I’m not a purist: I want whole spices, ginger, roses, etc. in there, too. Loose leaf over powder all day.

Masala Chai Black Tea

Sullivan Street Tea & Spice is my forever favorite for all things loose leaf and their masala chai is no exception. They also do a rooibos version if you prefer no caffeine.

This rec was truly excellent - you make from whole spices yourself but it worked so easily and well. I don’t think the clove or cinnamon is strictly necessary. Might add extra green cardamom next time. I used gunpowder green tea and bought all my ingredients in the bulk section. Even better on day two!

chai wallahs of maine

i can’t get enough. i huff the scent straight from the bag even on days i’m not brewing it. iced, hot, with honey, with milk, chai wallahs of maine is warm, spiced perfection. they have a decaf rooibos chai as well, which does me dirty on nights i want to be responsible but still spicy. i don’t have the poetic capacity to articulate exactly how it’s the most amazing blend in my tea hoarding cabinet, but you have to trust that it will rock your world.

I’m a fan of the Hill Station Blend. They also have a concentrate!
