my favorite book - a brilliant exploration of the french revolution
Look, Hilary Mantel could do no wrong in my eyes, but i don't think the celebrated Cromwell series is her best work. A Place of Greater Safety is her deeply researched novel of the French Revolution, written from the perspectives of Desmoulins, Robespierre and Danton.
It is perfect.
