Smaller = Success

I love my book club. We started as a very large group in our early twenties that winnowed down to three of us that still read together fifteen years later. We share a WhatsApp group which is manageable as we genuinely like one another and notifications don’t get crazy with a small party. We have no deadlines, and we are much more inclined to connect monthly and table the book until we’ve fit the book into our individual schedules. That said, since we are a smaller group, we read much faster, so that only happens in moments of crisis. Maybe 15-20 books per year?

We FaceTime and occasionally, we take reading trips together (Maine, Canyon Ranch). We try to alternate genre and author background with each pick. There’s a cool tool on Goodreads where you can see what books overlap on your TBR with others! That said, we will not read a book unless a human we know recommended it. We’ve been burned too often by hype!
