In October 2015, a fire broke out during a concert at the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest, Romania, initially killing 27 people due to a lack of proper fire exits. In the weeks that followed, an additional 38 burn victims died in local hospitals. Shockingly, many of these victims passed away from severe, hospital-acquired bacterial infections rather than their original, non-life-threatening burn wounds.
