Making a list of things you’re avoiding instead of a “to do” list

when my bingo card to do list stops working, this one has been really helpful! i've been trying out doing the list and then spending five minutes on each one (which obviously often turns into longer, but it's such a nice way to incentivize getting things done). as a mega to do list maker, i was able to tell myself that i could chip away at all nine things and be done for the day within 45 minutes – i'm still amazed by how much i was able to get done with that strategy!

Sure… the kitchen needs to be cleaned… I’ll do that instead of replying to the growing unread texts that overwhelm me. Maybe you’re saying “girl! These lists are the same thing!” and you’re right, they are, but if you try it, you’ll find there are things you want to avoid waaaaaayyy more than other “to dos.” To really crank up the heat: make the list and start with the thing that you want to avoid the most. Once you actually start, watch the anxiety melt.
