This is my third year of making this storied torte for every single person I know with plums from fruit trees on family property in Washington state. It is SO good with coffee, whipped cream, ice cream, or simply just on its own. Freezes beautifully, great to have on hand in the freezer during the holidays for parties, dinners, and family gatherings.

“i cannot understand why this is so good. i made a similar very simple cake recipe with figs yesterday, after having made this for a dinner party two days prior, and thought, why do i ever make any simple fruit cake recipe but this one? it is SOOOOO GOOD. sorry torte* whatever”

“A delightfully mini-sized spin on Marion Burros’ G.O.A.T plum torte recipe. Mix batter according to original recipe, spoon into a 12 cup muffin tin, push a plum half into each cup, and cook for 30ish minutes. Custardy on the inside, chewy and sugar-cookie-ish at the edges.”

“The only cake recipe I have memorized. Modified from the original plum torte recipe from Marian Burros. Don’t skip the acid!”
