the kon mari method
i did it in 2018 before i moved houses and i've never looked back. it's really helped me stay organize + learn what i truly like.
and yes, it's helped me learn to let go of stuff that doesn't spark joy. it taught me that material gifts don't have to hang around like the sweater someone knit you that you feel obligated to wear in front of them; you can really love the gesture of the gift and let that be enough, then let the actual thing go and serve someone else.
"what if i need this" isn't really a thing i worry about anymore, and i was raised by parents whose whole garage is full of that shit. let it go!

“Honestly the whole Marie Kondo thing really helped me start to get my place more organized back when I was in college. I especially appreciate the idea that everything needs its own spot; it’s a lot easier to put things away tidily when there are places to put them back in.”

“One thing I do is fold and store everything upright so it’s easy for my kiddo to see what he has and pull out his own clothes without dislodging the whole pile.”
