Requests from Juliana

Outdoor wine glasses that feel like glass without being breakable. Stems essential. Nice weight a bonus.

No dice on non-glass, but wine goblets from the Madonna Inn are sturdy, playful, and a conversation starter.

First day of school traditions: We are good about traditions in our house, but I want to add something relatively low lift to mark the first day of school. What should we do? (We do the little sign/photo, but I'm thinking a special meal or something else.)

We’d wake up a little earlier and of course get ready in the 1st day of school outfit- but the best part was when we got out of the house early enough to go for breakfast-ish (at the time it was for her, a special hot chocolate and the best hot baguette with melted butter with me having same with coffee). That blissful extra half hour happened right across the street from school but you can both decide the location and the meal. We’d sit outside on the bench and just take in the sights together in the calm before the bustle of the rest of the kids arriving. Us with our perfect food, we could talk or contemplate in pure bliss. The opposite of stress!

Been crocheting since the fall, but found some patterns that make me really want to try knitting, too! Any online classes that you recommend? Or great first patterns that – with the help of youtube – I can use to teach myself?

A loved one is having surgery tomorrow and I need your best, stupid TV recs for distracting me all day. Good “laundry folding” shows where you don’t need to pay too much attention. Open to reality or not.

I’m currently binging Curb Your Enthusiasm. Half hour episodes, nice and easy 🙂

Having a summer dinner party this week, and the weather is getting in the way of my grill-focused fantasies. Looking for easy but impressive meals for a crowd, highlighting summer produce. Must be vegetarian.

I need to buy some beautiful and very sturdy hooks for my entryway. My kids will be hanging their backpacks and coats on them, so I want to anticipate the weight of a high-schooler's backpack for the future. Gold/brass preferred but open to some whimsy. The rest of the space has green, black, and dark wood tones, but with white walls.

I host a monthly cookbook club and this weekend's doubles as a Fourth of July party. It is largely a vegetarian-leaning bunch. What cookbook should we choose for a nod to the 4th?

I'm terrible about skincare, and need to up my moisturizing game for both my body and my face. (Have the SPF and retinol covered.) Have keratosis on my arms. What should I be moisturizing with? Every time I get out of the shower?
