I'm so glad my physical therapist recommended staying at an agriturismo while visiting Italy. Part of me wants to keep this secret all to myself but I'm going to spread the love.
I can't say enough about this agriturismo in Montepulciano. We stayed in one of their six on-site apartments which had all the basic amenities needed for an intimate staycation. We spent the days relaxing in our garden area overlooking the rolling hills of the vineyard, exploring the grounds and swimming in the pool. It was very quiet and we only crossed paths with other visitors once. At night we drove into the historic city center for dinner. On our last day we did a tasting of the wine they produced, toured the vineyard, learned about Italian wine production and had a case of delicious rosé shipped home (at a very reasonable cost, great for gifting). The owners were very kind and welcoming. All of this for less than €100 a night (no farm work required) in the prime of summer. A crazy steal and a lovely experience.
