A 50-gallon trash can in the kitchen

This is a must for large families, people with messy houses, and spoonies/neurodivergent people who struggle with cleaning and chores. Keep a very large open trash can in your kitchen, and watch the messes disappear from the rest of your home. Surprisingly, the black version linked below does not look huge or ugly in context.

By eliminating the friction of a lid or an already-full can, you make it far more likely that people will put their trash where it actually belongs. Even a huge indoor trash can is less likely to invite pest problems than trash around the house.

Be aware you will need 65-gallon commercial trash bags.
