we found taking thin merino buffs useful—-all-in-one headband, neck warmer, hat, sweatband, and would soak it with water and put it on to cool off, etc.
depending on how long you guys are on the trail, a scrubba is handy for washing clothes wherever you’re staying.
i’ve done the camino a couple of times, but never with kids. i’d encourage you guys to be really open to chatting with your fellow pilgrims along the way and wherever you’re staying. the walking, nature, peace are all great, but the longest lasting joy has come from the people we met along the way. sometimes when families go together, they can isolate themselves as a little unit, but then lose out on the depth of connection that can come from talking with others who are also drawn to the camino.
hope you all have a wonderful time! buen camino :) more
