The Eyes & the Impossible (Dave Eggers)
Johannes the dog lives in the park as a free soul and serves as the eye to report everything that’s happening at the park to three ancient bisons (who keeps the lives at the park in equilibrium). There are seagulls, squirrels, raccoons, turtles, ducks, and goats. A story about self discovery, friendship, and growing up.
My kids (7 and 5) are probably not quite ready for this yet, but I’d just listened to the audiobook. It is SO good - Ethan Hawke reads it and does the best voices. He gave such a great performance, 10/10

“The book has a wooden cover and the audiobook is read by Ethan Hawke (he does all the voices and it is charming!) and the story itself is a pure delight!”

“This is my favorite kid-friendly chapter book. I read it with B when he was 5 - it was endearing and hilarious. We still quote it years later…did the earth just shift? Must’ve been Johannes.”
