I know, who has the time?? But this is absolutely worth the stolen hour post-bedtime. I got this idea from Jessi Klein’s funny and brutal (in a good way) memoir about motherhood “I’ll Show Myself Out” — two-for-one rec! — but basically, before you leave, write out the story of how the next few days will go and read it to your kiddo. I really think preparing B for what’s to come has made a HUGE positive impact on her ability to see me off.
