Hate to admit how much this changed my life (a consummate loser of keys)

I don't want to yuck your yum but just please be careful when putting car key fobs with remote entry buttons by the front door.
It sounds tin-foil-hat crazy, but thieves can walk up to your front door and perform what's called a "relay attack" from outside -- reading the code from your fob using the low-power radio frequency signal it constantly emits, and re-transmitting that to another box that's close enough to your car to unlock it.

If you really really want to keep your keys near the front door, consider something called a Faraday Box or Bag for your keys that blocks those radio signals!
i had no idea, good info! and also, ugh!
