You call ahead to visit Jan and David’s studio and shop in East Berlin, PA (near Lancaster) and, once arrived, enter a beautiful alternate reality where their beautiful cabinetry and outdoor sinks, rolls of flax fabrics, hand turned kitchen stands and garden dibbers, and garden tools all coexist in a beautiful total environment. It feels connected to the past but not nostalgic — everything feels new and revelatory. A beautiful place to visit and Jan and David are so knowledgeable and cool to talk to, and Jan has the all time most beautiful handwriting that you’ll see on your receipt and maps of the area she might draw for you.
