Visiting Oak Spring Garden

Bunny Mellon had an eye for very specific and funny things — tiny brass doorknobs, Delft tile, espalier trees, the strange forms of agricultural buildings, the bottoms of woven baskets, a glimpse of trompe l'oeil — which she collected and orchestrated expertly (and movingly) in these spaces and landscapes. Inspiring in its practicality and exuberance, worth the wait for an open weekend and worth the trip!
