I've lived here for 30 years and The Getty Center remains one of my favorite places. Take the train, wander around outside, see the show you came for and then three more and then go see the newish Artemisia Gentileschi. You can bring your lunch and eat it on the top level balcony with sweeping views of LA. It's open until 9pm on Saturdays so it's a great date night, take in the sunset and get a glass of wine and see some art and the Irwin Garden, you can't lose. I like to walk back down so that I can see the deer.

“Plan on spending a whole afternoon here. There’s great works of art inside and outside is a beautiful, tranquil garden with a cascading waterfall. And from the Getty you can catch views of Belaire and the famous 405 traffic. Even getting from the parking to the museum is its own treat with a short monorail ride up and down the hill. Admissions is free but requires timed tickets.”

“So much to offer: art, gardens, shows and events. Free parking for military during the summer.”
