You probably know about this one, if only because of the highly Instagrammable foam smiley-face slippers you have to wear on Jackson Pollock’s famous paint-splattered floor. I feel like this summer tickets will be a hot commodity, with excitement mounting for the Met’s big October show on Pollock and his wife Lee Krasner. Maybe the Met will do a replica of the studio? Visits are reservation-only, which means you usually have the whole place to yourself and it feels very contemplative. You can kind of imagine what it felt like in 1945 when Pollock and Krasner moved here—and how lonely Lee must have felt living here for decades after he died. 830 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton

“Sag Harbor Tavern is the east-end outpost of Billy Durney, of Red Hook Tavern fame. His well-loved burger is on the menu, as well as great pastas and fish and chips. 26 Bay st, Sag Harbor.”

“The public can visit the former home of artist Lee Krasner and her husband seasonally, May - October, by advance reservation. Furnishings and artifacts remain as they were at her death in 1984. There are also rotating exhibitions from contemporary artists.”

“Go stand on the paint splattered floor of Pollock's painting studio, tour the house and peer out at the water. I vote go for the 4pm self guided tour, go on an off day. I've been twice and we've had the place to ourselves both time. I am a big fan of visiting studios and homes of artists and architects. You will be transported.”
